To set
a standard on ranking of employees and
compensation administration, San Beda
College recently hired The Executive
Edge (TEE) Consultancy, Inc.
Fr.
Anscar J. Chupungco, Rector-President,
said the move was essential in standardizing
and institutionalizing the different
positions and set guidelines for their
just remuneration.
TEE
consultants will conduct a six-month
study, or on job (task) analysis, of
all positions and review all actual
job classifications or groupings. If
necessary, new groupings will be created
in consultation with the Office of the
Rector-President and College of Arts
and Sciences committee.
The
consultants will develop a job rating/ranking
plan that will serve as a yardstick
for measuring the worth of the positions
under review. The compensable factors
included in the plan will be submitted
to and discussed with the Rector-President
and the CAS committee for approval.
TEE
will determine work group/categories
based on the prepared and approved rating/ranking
plan. The consultants will rate, rank
and classify jobs into categories, levels/grades
from information obtained from the Job
Evaluation forms and interviews conducted.
The results will be recommended to the
Rector-President for approval.
A
Comprehensive Integrated Compensation
Structure will also be established.
The consultants will develop a compensation
structure with its corresponding cost
implications based on the approved job
classification. The recommended compensation
structures will take into consideration
the salary objective and financial capability
of San Beda College.
TEE
consultants with the collaboration of
administrators and liaison officer will
review the organizational charts, manuals,
existing specifications/job descriptions,
current salary scales, and other pertinent
documents such as the proposed ranking
system prepared by the faculty of the
College of Arts and Sciences.
The
organizational charts as well as manuals
will serve as preliminary data for determining
existing lines of authority and communication,
delineation of line and staff functions
and staffing patterns.
Job
Evaluation Questionnaires will be distributed
to all employees. The purpose of the
questionnaires is to gather data on
the current tasks or functions of personnel.
After
conducting all of these, the consultants
will also submit a college-wide plantilla
that includes a design of a rationalized
college-wide ladderized job positions,
the minimum requirements (i.e. academic
qualifications, among others) needed
for the job, pay grades and ranges,
job ranks based on accepted compensable
factors, and locator and salary scales
for all levels.
