Spiritual formation and Christian growth in the context of Benedictine ideals are at the very core of the educational mission of San Beda College.
While such aspect of SBC’s mission is inherently pursued in all aspects of Bedan life, it is given a preferential focus through programs and activities that directly address the challenge of moulding Bedans as champions of the Christian-Catholic faith.
The San Beda College Campus Ministry, in essence, defines the distinguishing value of Bedan education. Its character is defined by the focus on prayer life and commitment to service particularly to the vulnerable members of the Philippine society.
Benedictine monks serve as Chaplain or spiritual shepherd for each department in the College. They do not only design and oversee the implementation of religious programs and activities but also provide spiritual counselling and other needed services to optimize the spiritual growth of Bedans.
The Peace Retreat Movement is one of the main aspects of the Campus Ministry. It conducts an off-campus spiritual retreat that centers on the value of building and maintaining strong relationship with Christ and commitment to Filipino-Christian family values. The retreat is highlighted by a meaningful encounter with Jesus Christ—the of Bedans.
The Campus Ministry mission is also carried out through annual recollections or retreats which are designed to enable Bedans to grow in the various aspects of faith and Christian service.
As a way of promoting and enriching the community’s prayer life, Bedans are provided various religious services like masses and confessions. The community also pursues devotions to the Sto. Nino, Our Lady of Montserrat, St. Bede, and St. Benedict. |
