Vision

The Master of Laws Program is offered to those who have completed the Bachelor of Laws (Ll.B) or the Juris doctor (J.D.), or equivalent courses and who desire advanced, graduate-level studies in law and jurisprudence.

The subjects of law will be approached from a philosophical perspective. Professors and students alike will aim at the underlying juridical concepts and premises and will have recourse to comparative jurisprudence.

Methodology

The Graduate School of Law uses a blend of three delivery methods: classroom sessions that are held once a month, individual guided research using principally material assigned by the professor and calling for reaction papers of reasonable length and mentoring, particularly in the research leading to the writing of the thesis. Most subjects are team-taught.

This is a thesis program and the students will be required to present an appropriate thesis and to defend it successfully before a Panel of Oral Examiners presided over by the Dean. It should be noted that completion of the required Seminar on Legal and Judicial Ethics, that will include a session on Benedictine spirituality, is a pre-requisite for Thesis Writing.
