A. ADMISSION POLICIES
1. Applicants must obtain their Baccalaureate degree by the end of the second semester preceding admission to medical school. Those who will graduate after the summer session preceding admission to medical school will be considered on a case by case basis.
2. Applicants must have taken the National Medical Admission Test. The Department sets the NMAT cut-off.
3. Aside from the NMAT, all applicants shall take the psychological examination given by the Department which would assess their aptitude and personality.
4. Applicants must pass the interview given by the Admissions Committee of the College of Medicine.
5. Transfer students are considered, provided, they are in first year or in second year med proper. Courses taken from the last medical school attended will be evaluated for accreditation based on the policies set by the Department.
6. The Dean of the College of Medicine makes the final decision on the application of students. The decision to admit candidates for admission rests on the credentials submitted and the interview performance.
B. REQUIREMENTS & PROCEDURE
Fresh College Graduate
1. Applicants must submit the following requirements for evaluation:
a. Original Transcript of Records of the last 3 ½ years of any Baccalaureate program
(No more science subject requirement for Pre-med Course)
b. Four copies of colored pictures (2 x 2)
c. One (1) NSO original copy of Birth Certificate
d. Certificate of Good Moral Character from a former professor or dean
e. Letter of recommendation from a former professor or dean
f. Police clearance
g. Medical Clearance
h. CBC (complete blood count)
i. Urinalysis
j. Chest X-ray (PA view)
k. Honorable Dismissal/Transfer Credential
2. Applicants must have taken the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT)
3. Applicants must pay the application fee and secure an application form from the Admissions Office.
4. Applicants must pass an interview session given by the Admission Committee
Transferees
1. Submit a copy of the Transcript of Records from the last medical school attended at the Admissions Center. The credential will be evaluated by the Dean.
2. Upon approval of the Dean, complete the following for submission at the Admissions Center:
a. Original Transcript of Records
b. Two (2) certified copies of the Birth Certificate
c. Certificate of Good Moral Character from a former professor or dean
d. Two (2) Letters of recommendation from a professor or dean
e. Four (4) pieces of 2x2 pictures
3. Get a receipt from the Accounting Office and pay application/testing fee of Php1,000.00 at the Cashier’s Office.
4. Secure application form and test permit at the Admissions Center.
5. Take the psychological examination. Interview by the Admissions Committee/counselor will follow.
6. For further evaluation, complete the following requirements for submission to the Office of the Dean:
a. Police Clearance
b. Medical Clearance
c. Complete Blood Count (CBC)
d. Urinalysis
e. Chest X-ray (PA view)
7. Follow up decision on your application from the Office of the Dean.
Successful applicants must submit Transfer Credentials (Honorable Dismissal) for enrolment.
Foreign Students
1. Foreign students may apply directly at the Admissions Center or in writing, addressed to the Admissions Committee of San Beda College of Medicine (through the Admissions Center). The letter of application should include the following documents in triplicate:
a. Letter of Application
b. Documents which are authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence:
b.1. Transcript of Records
b.2. Certificate of Graduation or Diploma
b.3. Notarized Affidavit of Support
b.4. Personal History Statement
b.5. Police Clearance
b.6. Original Birth Certificate
c. Certificate of Good Moral Character from two (2) former professors
d. Results of the National Medical Admissions Test (NMAT). The applicant must have met the minimum level set by the San Beda College of Medicine (SBCM).
2. Pay the non-refundable application and processing fees of $200.00at the Accounting office.
3. Secure Testing Permit at the Admissions Center and take the psychological examination. Interview by the Admissions Committee/counselor will follow.
4. All documents will be forwarded to the Admissions Committee of the SBCM for evaluation. The Admissions Committee will select qualified applicants and endorse them to the Dean for his approval.
5. The SBCM will furnish CHED a copy of the application for issuance of Certificate of Eligibility.
6. The SBCM will endorse its recommendation to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Manila together with the following documents for the issuance of student visa:
a. Notice of Acceptance
b. Certificate of Eligibility from CHED
c. Transcript of Records
d. Notarized Affidavit of Support
e. Personal History Statement
f. Police Clearance
g. Original Birth Certificate
h. Certificate of Good Moral Character/recommendation from (2) professors)
Note: Items c- g: Documents authenticated by the Philippine
Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or Residence
7. Registration follows upon DFA’s approval of the application and notification of the Foreign Service Post concerned for the issuance of student visa.
8. During the registration procedure, the foreign medical student will pay a one-time fee of US$ 5,000.00 to the College Development Fund of the SBCM, a fund dedicated to the upgrading of the facilities of the SBCM.
