About Us

The San Beda College Graduate School of Business (SBC-GSB) offers a world class graduate education that is inspired by the tenets on LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCE of St. Benedict of Nursia (A.D. 480-547) as well as the Ten Benedictine Hallmarks.

It seeks to train knowledgeable, principled and skilled leaders that have a “global mindset” and skills in navigating organizational realities. Emphasis is on leadership development, critical, creative and integrative thinking and learning.

The Benedictine Rule of Leadership that focuses on collegiality, team work, community and organization, creativity and innovation, stability, discipline, ethics and empowerment is integrated in the value system of the whole program.

It provides a serious agenda that seeks to develop universal principles of leadership and promote good governance in both the private and public sectors with accountability and social responsibility at its very core.

Vision-Mission

The San Beda College Graduate School of Business (SBC-GSB) is an academic institution that offers a graduate degree leading to Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).

In light of the vision-mission of San Beda College, the Graduate School of Business envisions men and women who are:

PROFESSIONALLY COMPETENT as corporate and business individuals

FULLY AWARE of their significant role in nation-building; and

RESPONSIBLY COMMITTED as agents of change for the betterment of society and the greater glory of God.

Objectives

Thus, upon completion of their respective study programs, SBC-GSB student should have become:

Proficient both in oral and written communication

Adequately informed about the significant political, social, economic, and technological variables affecting the business environment today from both the macro and micro perspectives

Adept in the use of computer and their respective applications in the operations of a business

Knowledgeable of the fundamental business management concepts and functions

Analytical in the understanding of human behavior in the workplace

Knowledgeable and exposed to marketing principles and realities

Adept in the ability to evaluate the financial capabilities and operations of organizations

Proficient in the use of quantitative tools and techniques necessary in decision making

Exposed to various production concepts and operations

The Graduate School of Business advances quality management through thought leadership and enhancement of strategic capabilities in a local and global context.

 

General:

Oral and written communication abilities

As a graduate student, mastery in both the oral and written communication is a must. These are the primary requirements in every subject courses

Problem solving and critical thinking abilities

Case studies, précis, and current business issues are in the lifeblood of the graduate students. It is expected that sound judgment and critical thinking skills be fully utilized

Ethical reasoning

Bedan education is grounded on ethical values and reasoning. Students should embody St. Benedict’s teachings in every aspect of their learning and reasoning.

Management Specific:

Higher level of knowledge in the different management areas

Graduate students should be able to integrate their field of expertise to the wide array of business subjects that are strategically imbued in the curriculum.

Ability to adapt and innovate

The balancing act of working and studying, all at the same time, may bring struggles and hardships. But the student’s ability to adapt and innovate would spell success if he/she knows to use and maximize his/her resources.

Ability to lead

Leadership is highly expected amongst all graduate students. It defines what the graduate school is all about based from the leaders it produces.
