COLLEGE OF MEDICINE

Thank you for expressing your interest in enrolling in the San Beda College of Medicine.  Please read through the following:

 

A.  Application Requirements:

1. Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited Baccalaureate program or a candidate for graduation of an accredited Baccalaureate program by the end of the second semester preceding the application;

2. Applicants must have a valid National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) percentile rank of at least 40.

 

3. Applicants must submit the required documents to the San Beda College Admissions Office (placed in 1 long brown envelope):

    1. a. Accomplished application form (forms are available at the Admissions Center or may be downloaded from www.sanbeda.edu.ph);
    2. b. Photocopy of Transcript of Records (TOR) of the last 3 ½ years of any accredited Baccalaureate program.
    3. c. For graduates of a Baccalaureate degree, theirofficial TOR must be submitted
    4. d. Certificate of Class Ranking
    5. e. Certificate of General Weighted Average (GWAG)
    6. f. Photocopy of National Statistics Office (NSO) issued Birth Certificate;
    7. g. Two (2) Recommendation letters (from former professors and/or Dean of the institution where the baccalaureate program was taken dated within the last two years);
    8. h. Two (2) Good moral character certificate (from former professors and/or Dean of the institution where the baccalaureate program was taken dated within the last two years);
    9. i. Submit four (4) copies of a recent 2x2 photo (colored with white background).

4. An application fee of P 1,500.00 shall be charged for processing and entrance test.

 

B.  Application Guidelines:

1. Upon submission of the requirements, the Admissions Center Clerk will advise you of the available schedule for the entrance exam.

2. Applicants will be informed of the schedule of interview through your contact information written in your application form.

The official list of accepted applicants will be announced on the 4th week of May of the current Academic Year. It will be posted here

Accepted applicants will be given one (1) month from the posting of the list to reserve or enroll for the incoming academic year, after which the slots will be given to the waitlisted students.

3. The list of waitlisted applicants will be posted by June 2017.

 

C.  Requirements for accepted applicants:

1. Pay a non-refundable reservation fee of P 30,000.00

2. Submit the Original copies of all required documents mentioned above

3. Submit Honorable Dismissal from your previous school.

4. Submit a medical clearance certificate and copies of the following laboratory exams from any reputable hospital or clinic:

a. CBC
b. Urinalysis
c. Chest x-ray PA view (please bring film)

5. Submit two (2) copies of a recent 2x2 photo (colored with white background).

 

Application deadline for academic year 2017–2018 is on April 29, 2017

 

 

Procedures for Admission of  Foreign Students

Step 1  
Foreign students seeking admission to the San Beda College of Medicine may apply directly or in writing to the Chairperson of the Admissions Office of the San Beda College of Medicine at Mendiola Street, San Miguel, Manila, Philippines.  The letter of application will include the following documents in triplicate:

  1. a. Letter of application
  2. b. Transcript of Records authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence.
  3. c. Certificate of Graduation or diploma authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence.
  4. d. Notarized affidavit of support authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence.
  5. e. Personal history statement, all original documents, including signature, photographs and thumb marks authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence.
  6. f. Police Clearance certificate issued by the national police authorities in the student’s country of origin authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence
  7. g.Original birth certificate authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence.
  8. h. Certificate of good moral character/recommendation from two (2) former professors, preferably the College Dean.
  9. i. Application and processing fees – US $ 200.00 (non-refundable)
  10. j. Results of the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) which is not lower than the minimum level set by the SBCM.

 



Step 2
  1. 1. The SBCM will receive the application, duly filed on time, together with the above-mentioned documents.
  2. 2. The admissions committee will select qualified applicants for admission.
  3. 3. The Dean of the College of Medicine will approve the applications upon the recommendation of the Admissions Office.
  4. 4. The SBCM will furnish the CHED a copy of the application for issuance of the Certificate of Eligibility (CEA)

Step 3
The CHED will evaluate the student’s records for issuance of the said CEA.

Step 4

    1.The SBCM will endorse its recommendations to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Manila together with the following documents for the issuance of the student visa:
    1. a. Notice of Acceptance from San Beda College of Medicine
    2. b. Certificate of Eligibility from CHED
    3. c.Transcript of records and diploma authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence
    4. d. Notarized affidavit of support authenticated by the Philippine Foreign e. Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence.
    5. e. Personal history statement, all original, including signature, photographs and thumb marks authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence.
    6. f. Police Clearance certificate issued by the national police authorities in the student’s country of origin authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence.
    7. g. Original birth certificate authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence.
    8. h. Certificate of good moral char`1acter/recommendation from two (2) former professors,
  1. 2. The DFA upon approval of the application will notify the Foreign Service Post concerned for the issuance of the student visa.
  2. 3. Thereafter, the DFA will inform the San Beda College of Medicine  and the CHED of the course of action taken.

 

Step 5
The Registration procedure found in Article 2 of this Handbook follows, if all the above requirements are complied with.

Step 6
During the registration procedure, the foreign medical student will pay a one-time fee of US$ 5,000.00 to the Foreign development fund of the SBCM, a fund dedicated to the upgrading of the facilities of the SBCM. This fund is non-refundable.
