FIRST SAN BEDA VOLUNTEERISM, ADVOCACY AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT WEEK
September 10-13, 2013

PROJECT BRIEF

The San Beda Institutional Community Involvement Center (ICIC) strives to bring the Bedan community together in transforming lives. It has the following programs which carry the Benedictine apostolate of Ora et Labora, the school’s corporate social responsibility and the concrete expression of the institution’s vision-mission. These are the legal and paralegal services, scholarship and educational programs, livelihood initiatives, disaster response management, environment and health projects.

In order to drumbeat and promote awareness on the different projects, initiatives and community engagements of the various colleges, student organizations, faculty and non-teaching personnel, the volunteerism, advocacy and community involvement week is conceived. This is a celebration of the school’s commitment to be one in journey with our people, and help them help themselves. The week will be a showcase of trade fairs for the various products produced by our partner communities, product innovations done by our students, symposia, photo exhibits at Pamanang Bedista entitled, Benedictine Missionary Spirit, booths of different organizations showing their participation in the corporate social responsibility of the school, blood donation, book drives, MOA signing with our partner local government unit partners and most of all the featured activity of the week: the Benefit Dance concert to be performed by our tribal indigenous groups from Pactil, Bauko, Mountain, Province together with the faculty and student artists of the school. This will be on September 12-13, 2013, which aims to raise funds for the repair of the St. Benedict chapel in Pactil and for youth projects in the village including educational initiatives. The Gala Night 7:00 PM show will be on September 12, 2013 at the Abbot Lopez Hall, San Beda College, Manila. It is hoped that its guiding theme, “Strengthening Volunteerism, Sharpening Expertise and Deepening the Faith” can foster the Bedan community spirit as we ROAR together in helping people help themselves.
