In recognition of the Constitutional guarantee of institutional academic freedom, admission to the San Beda Graduate School Program/s is open to all students not otherwise disqualified by law or by the policies and rules of the Commission on Higher Education or San Beda (Section 83, Manual of Regulations for Private Higher Education, 2008);


Section 1: The San Beda University Graduate School programs are open to students who meets the following academic criteria:

A Bachelor’s Degree in an authorized and recognized university or college;

  1. Minimum Grade Point Average  (GPA) of 85% or B or 2.00 for the entire course;
  2. Passed the San Beda Entrance Examination;
  3. Should submit all the other requirements as may be deemed necessary by the Board of Admissions;
  4. Transferees from other schools are not accepted, except in extremely meritorious      cases as may be determined by the Dean.
  5. The student should personally process his/her enrollment papers. Assigning of proxies is discouraged.

STEP 3:  The Coordinator will assign the subjects to be enrolled for the trimester.

STEP 4:  Present the Unofficial Registration form at the Cashier for the payment.

STEP 5:  Get the Official Registration form and class cards from the Graduate School of Business Office.

STEP 6:  Proceed to the Bedanet Office for new ID for freshmen students and validation for continuing students.

 Admission Requirements

1.      Admission to the Graduate School is discretionary upon the Dean of the Graduate School of Law. 

2.      Candidates for admission must subscribe to the educational philosophy as expressed in the vision and mission of San Beda College and must be willing to conduct themselves, both in their academic and private lives, in a manner, consistent with the moral teachings of the Catholic Church.  Non-compliance in this aspect shall be ground for the Dean to refuse admission to the student, or to terminate the tenure of a student in the Graduate School of Law.

3.      For the MASTER OF LAWS (LLM) program, only those may be admitted who have completed a basic law degree, including Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD), with a general average of not lower than 85% and who shall not have incurred any failing mark in any subject carrying a weight of three units or more.  Any departure from this rule is discretionary on the dean. 

4.      For admission to the MASTER OF LEGAL STUDIES, the candidate must have completed in college at least eighteen (18) units of social science subjects and are currently enrolled in a basic law program may be admitted.

         For admission to the MASTER OF LEGAL STUDIES, major in Criminal Justice Administration, the applicant must have completed a basic college or university-level degree with a general average of not lower than 85% in any of the following courses: Criminology, Public Safety, Public Security, Political Science, Legal Management or any related course.

         For the MASTER OF LEGAL STUDIES, major in Canon Law, the student must have completed a basic college or university-level degree with at least 18 units of theology.

5.      Only those who have a Master of Laws, Master of Comparative Law, or Master of Juridical Science degree may be admitted to the DOCTOR OF THE SCIENCE OF JURISPRUDENCE (S.J.D.) program.

6.      The decision of the Dean whether to admit a candidate for admission or not shall rest on the following considerations:

Entering credentials

Attitude of the candidate towards graduate education as far as can be determined

The time the student can give to research and study.

The Academic Standards of San Beda University.

Requirements for International Students

  1. Foreign students seeking admission to the San Beda University College of Medicine may apply directly or in writing to the Chairperson of the Admissions Committee of the San Beda University College of Medicine at Mendiola Street, San Miguel, Manila, Philippines. The letter of application will include the following documents in triplicate:

a.  Letter of application

b.  Transcript of records authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence.

c.  Certificate of Graduation or diploma authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student’s country of origin or residence.

*Upon registration procedure, the foreign medical student will pay a one-time fee of US$ 5,000.00 to the foreign development fund of the SBUCM, a fund dedicated to the upgrading of the facilities of the SBUCM. (This fund is non-refundable)

Admission Policies

  1. The San Beda College of Law admits only those applicants whose credentials and personal qualifications yield evidence that they can offer an excellent academic performance and profit from the intellectual, social and spiritual opportunities offered by the College.

 

  1. An applicant for admission to the law course should have pursued and satisfactorily completed in an authorized and recognized university or college the courses of study prescribed for a bachelor’s degree in arts or sciences; and should have earned the following number of units in preparatory law course: 18 units of English, 18 units of Social Science, and 6 units of Mathematics.

 

Note: A bachelor’s degree holder who passed the entrance examination but lacks the required number of units in the required courses may conditionally enter the College of Law, but must satisfy these requirements before admission to Second Year Law.

 

  1. All students entering the San Beda College of Law for the first time shall take an entrance examination, which consists mainly of a test of logic, comprehension, articulation, and aptitude for the law profession. Entrance examinations are given, upon prior application, in accordance with the schedule duly announced, generally at any time between the closing of the school year and reopening of classes.

 

  1. As a matter of policy, the San Beda College of Law does not accept transferees from other schools, except in extremely meritorious cases as may be determined by the Dean.


  1. All new students enrolling in the College of Law or reenrolling after an absence of two consecutive semesters are under academic probation for the entire school year. Old students may be admitted on probation in attendance, conduct or academics. In such cases, the Committee on Admission or the Dean may set the conditions under which they are admitted on probation.

Admission Policies

In selecting applicants for admission, the following will be reviewed:

  1. Grades received in previous academic work 


Senior High School general average of 82 and above with no grades below 80 in Science, Math, and English is required.

  1. Entrance exam scores;

  2. Recommendation from the officials of the last school attended;

  3. Interviews, essay tests, and other supplementary credentials; and

  4. Certification of good moral character


In addition, applicants must:

  1. Possess a pleasing personality;

  2. meet the minimum height requirement (152.4cm for women and 157.48cm for men);and

  3. be physically fit (without deformities/abnormalities)


Specifically, admission is limited only to those seeking enlistment in the first or second year. Those who have completed his/her first and second year college in another school but would not otherwise qualify for admission in San Beda University as a transferee may be allowed to enroll as first year student again, provided he/she signs an affidavit waiving any and all credits earned in the school he/she came from. Transferees must also meet the following requirements:

  1. Must come from a Level II Accredited schools;

  2. Should not have a failing grade in any subject taken in college;

  3. Should have a weighted GPA not lower than 2.5 counting all the subjects taken in the school he/she was previously enrolled in and subjects to be credited in the academic program he/she is enlisting;

  4. Should neither have withdrawn nor have an incomplete grade in more than one (1) subject per semester in the school he/she was previously enrolled;

  5. Willing to repeat all General Education subjects with grades below 2.5;

  6. Should have passed the initial interview and evaluation of credentials to determine qualification for entrance examination;

  7. Must not have been previously enrolled in two or more colleges or universities;

  8. Should have passed the SBC entrance exam and interview; and

  9. Should submit all other requirements as deemed necessary by the Board of Admissions

Academic Requirements & Process

1. Please take note of the admission policies:

  • Grade in any subject/quarter must not be lower than 80 (Grade 1 to Grade 6)
    • General  Average          83% 
    • Conduct Average          82%   
  • Grade 1 applicants must be able to READ SHORT STORIES with comprehension           
  • Kinder applicant must be 5 years old by the end of August 2019.

IMPORTANT: The Department reserves the right to deny applicants who have not met the required policies. 

2. Accomplish the online application form (Click the link: www.sanbedarizal.edu.ph/BedistaPortalK12). Print the form and attach a 2x2 photo.  Please take note of the applicant ID/username and password that will be generated.

3. Pay the application fee of Php 850.00 (non-refundable) at the Accounting Office or through the bank under the account name of San Beda University. Indicate your name and applicant ID/username in the deposit slip.

4. Submit the following requirements to the Admissions Center through a personal visit or through courier:

  • Two (2) photocopies of latest Report Card with at least 2nd Quarter grades (for Grade 1 to Grade 6)
  • Photocopy of Birth certificate (for local, PSA Birth certificate)
  • Printed online application form with attached 2x2 photo with white background
  • One (1) accomplished recommendation form
  • Two (2) long brown envelopes
  • Original copy of the Bank Deposit Slip (Please write the name and Applicant ID)

5. Take the assessment as scheduled.

6. Get the test results from the Admissions Center on the date indicated on the stub that will be given to your child after taking the entrance test.
